Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop stars: a superstar who managed to seamlessly transition from the traditional to making her an iconic celebrity and then conquering the globe in the process. Swift is shedding her roots in the country as if it were a second-skin, and has proven herself to be one of the most savvy pop singer/songwriter of her time. Swift is able to take the zeitgeist of today and make it her personal. The first songs she released, such as the neotribute for Tim McGraw were a testament to her talent. But, her follow-up album Fearless in 2008 showcased a songwriter finding her voice and a wider public. Fearless was a huge success not only in the United States, where six of its singles have been declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across the globe. Speak Now delivered almost two years later, which consolidated the popularity and pushed Swift into the stratosphere of superstardom. With her subsequent three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), the popularity of Swift grew, and she became part of a world of pop music with a clear sense of where she deserved to be. She stayed on top of the charts until she reverted to her own style on her sister albums folklore & Evermore in the year 2020.
