
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress, choreographer, dancer, and activist. Her breakthrough was with Tina's performance in Do the Right Thing (1989), then followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance on Fearless (1993) earned her nominations for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, among other accolades. Her film roles as a star have since included It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008) as well as Birds of Prey (2020).Perez earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another Emmy nomination for her performance in the film The Flight Attendant (2020-present). She has performed in stage plays on Broadway like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. The 18th season was the time she also co-hosted on ABC's talk program The View. She attended Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood. Her mother lived in the poverty of Woodside Houses by 1999. She died from AIDS-related complications in 1999.
